  1. Define hue:Hue is what distinguishes one color from another. In effect it is the generic name for the color - red, say, as opposed to blue.
  2. Define value:Value, otherwise known as tone, is the relative lightness or darkness of a color. A color with added white is called a tint and a color with added black is called a shade.
  3. Define saturation:Saturation, also known as chroma, is roughly equivalent to brightness. Two colors can be of the same hue but be of differing intensities.
  4. How many colors are available on our computers? 16.8 million.
  5. Define secondary color: orange,violet, green
  6. Define tertiary color:a primary plus a neighboring secondary; YELLOW ORANGE 
  7. Define complementary colors:Complementary colors are two colors which sit opposite each other on the color wheel.
  8. Define subtractive color model:It is called subtractive because if you mix the three primary colors (cyan, magenta and yellow) together, you get black (in theory; in reality you need to added pure black ink to get real black.)
  9. Define additive color model:It is called an additive color model because if you add the three primaries (red, green and blue) together, you get pure white light.

  14. Define analogous colors:Analogous colors are those which sit next to each other on the color wheel.
  15. Define tint:A tint is a color in which white has been added to a pure color. The more white, the lighter the tint. Tints are otherwise known as pastels.
  16. Define shade:A shade is a color in which black has been added to a pure color. The more black, the darker the tint.
  17. Define neutral:A neutral is the combination of complementary colors. Complementary colors are those that sit opposite each other on the color wheel. Neutrals are more natural colors and tend to be brownish.
  18. What can be said in general about warm colors?Red, orange and yellow are warm and visually tend to jump forward into prominence in a piece of design.
  19. What can be said in general about cool colors?The cooler hues — green, blue, and purple — tend to recede in a design.
